Ukraine Emergency Philanthropy Appeal

Children and young people are bearing the brunt of a growing crisis. Help UNICEF to provide emergency support.

What is happening in Ukraine?

Two thirds of Ukraine's children are now displaced. This refugee crisis is unprecedented in terms of speed and scale since the Second World War, and it is showing no signs of slowing down.

UNICEF is urgently ramping up efforts to deliver immediate support to children and families whose lives hang in the balance. We desperately need your support.

UNICEF has been in Ukraine for 25 years supporting children on both sides of the contact line.

You can help deliver life-saving supplies to children, young people, and families in Ukraine. Your investment is essential in helping us to scale our emergency response.

"When war affects children’s lives, it’s awful. After all, everyone grows up with dreams. And then war takes them away and destroys the future. Children should not be the victims of conflict."

Since the beginning of the conflict, we estimate that 1 in 10 schools have been damaged or destroyed and many more have suffered disruption to education.

Our teams on the ground have already delivered life-saving supplies to support the needs of over 2.2 million people. As the war continues to evolve at a rapid pace, so do the needs of the children who have fled, and those of the children who have no choice other than to stay.

Escalating conflict is posing a constant threat to children and young people’s safety and right to a future, causing trauma and emotional distress.

Now, more than ever, the children of Ukraine desperately need peace.

Help us scale up our impact on vulnerable children, young people and families in Ukraine.

How will my investment help support children in Ukraine?

UNICEF has offices across Ukraine. In response to ongoing and urgent needs, our teams and partners are working to reach children, young people and their families with life-saving emergency support.

  • $5k: $5,000 could provide 760 children with essential education supplies.
  • $10k: $10,000 could provide 135 families with an emergency Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene kit.
  • $16k: $16,000 could help provide displaced children with essential psychosocial support, clean water, and shelter.

How do we use each dollar donated?

  • 90¢
90 cents of every dollar donated to this emergency went directly to our emergency response work in the field.
  • 10¢
10 cents per dollar covers the essential administrative costs of raising public awareness and fundraising to generate more support for UNICEF’s emergency response.

In the unlikely event that UNICEF receives more funds than needed for this emergency response, your gift will help support UNICEF's work for children in need around the world.
