Support the Ukraine Children’s Emergency Fund

UNICEF has been on the ground in Ukraine for 25 years. When this devastating war began, we ramped up efforts to deliver aid to children and families whose lives were hanging in the balance.

Thanks to generous supporters, and along with our teams and partners on the ground, we’ve been able to provide acute care and emergency supplies to children and mothers most in need. But normality is a distant future for millions of children.

You can help to change the lives of children impacted by this devastating war by supporting the Ukraine Children’s Emergency Fund with a monthly gift.

Emergency Update

At least 972 children have been confirmed killed or injured since the war escalated in Ukraine six months ago. These are just the figures the UN has been able to verify. The true number is believed to be much higher.

Two thirds of Ukraine's children are displaced. Families have been torn apart.

As well as loss of life, the conflict is causing devastating consequences for children's access to essential services.

We estimate that 1 in 10 schools have been damaged or destroyed.

As the situation changes daily, we will continue to ensure children can access vital medical, nutritional and education support.

Our teams on the ground have already delivered life-saving supplies to support the needs of over 2.2 million people. As the war continues to evolve at a rapid pace, so do the needs of the children who have fled, and those of the children who have no choice other than to stay.

By supporting the Ukraine Children's Emergency Fund, you can help to rebuild shattered lives.

How does the Ukraine Children’s Emergency Fund work?

When you support the Ukraine Children’s Emergency fund as a monthly donor, you’re joining our incredible family of Global Parents.

Your first six donations will go directly to helping children whose lives have been devastated by the war in Ukraine. After six months, your regular gift will expand to helping children in need around the world, as well as Ukraine.

In times of disaster, UNICEF’s Global Parents allow us to deliver urgent supplies in just 48 hours. Your monthly gifts allow us to keep supplies stocked in key locations all over the world, so we can respond at a moment’s notice. And just like in Ukraine, we stay long after the crisis begins.

Your generous monthly donation will help to ensure we can be there for children before, during and after an emergency.

You’ll help us to deliver futures for every child.

War has left children from Ukraine traumatised

Conflict has torn apart children’s lives. They’ve lost their homes, and their loved ones. Their schools and hospitals have been destroyed. They have had to face heart-breaking situations that no child should ever have to experience.

Andrei (pictured) was frightened when explosions came close to his home in Ukraine’s Odessa region. He crossed the border into Moldova with his brother and their mother, who is five months pregnant.

He carried a bag with some clothes and his toothbrush in it. He left his home, his school, and his normal life behind.

Displaced children like Andrei need ongoing access to education and mental health support. Our teams are on the ground in Ukraine and surrounding countries to help provide urgently needed supplies, and to them on the road to long-term recovery.

Alongside partners, we have established ‘Blue Dot’ hubs on key migration routes to provide essential care for children who have fled the country.

Within Ukraine, UNICEF has set up 220 ‘Spilnos spots’ for children and women. Here, families can access physical and mental health care, education, first aid, and register to receive money so they can buy daily essentials. Our Spilnos spots support 22,000 visitors every day. We’ve provided mental health care and psychosocial support for 1.4 million women and children. But they need ongoing support.

You can help children like Andrei on their road to recovery. Please support the Ukraine Children’s Emergency Fund with a monthly gift and help make sure no child is left behind.

How will my donation help support children in Ukraine?

UNICEF has offices and teams across Ukraine and in neighboring countries, staying to help children in need. Here's how you could help:

  • $35 could provide 62 sachets of therapeutic food to help a child start their recovery from severe acute malnutrition
  • $40 could provide exercise books and pencils for 20 children
  • $50 could provide psychosocial support for children traumatised by conflict

With a smaller monthly donation, you can make an even bigger impact by giving children in Ukraine hope for a better future.
